I thought you could only catch trout on a fly rod but then I heard that you can on a cast & reel rod too, So Im leaving to go on the 9th of Oct, 2010 and need to know what I should pick up as far as bait, line (lbs test) and any other advice I can get about river fishing for trout this time of year with a cast and reel rod. im looking for some salmon and steelhead lures. im not really interested in spawn sacs or eggs. im looking for suggestions; colors, sizes, different lures.
I love camping and fishing but I'm not to familiar with northern california wildlife. Could you please name a few good trout river fishing desitnations in northern california. preferaboly no more than a 3 hour drive from SanFrancisco. I want to take my dad somewhere nice and quite where we can set up camp and go river fishing. So none of those popularized guide swarmed, overcrowded places please.

I have a friend going salmon fishing with us. He needs to purchase a fishing license but don't drive therefore he don't have ID. What other forms of ID are acceptable to purchase a license? This license is for Pulaski, NY. River and creek fishing not marine.
When is the soonest time I can start salmon fishing near Manitowoc Wisconson?
I mean as far as what time of the year do they start to come up the river and streams from lake michigan. ( I live right by the Manitowoc and Branch river.) So I would stick to the inland streams and was wondering what time of year they start comeing up to spawn.
