What gear ratio for bass fishing?

I need a baitcasting reel for bass fishing that can do pretty much anything I want. I can only get one. What gear ratio should I get that is the most versitile? I don't need suggested reels or brands, just a gear ratio. Thanks!

I'm going fishing for trout in a pond later this week and i was wondering what to put on my line, like how should i rig it?

Its a pond so what do i do? Can I only fly fish?

I have a ton of fishing gear, i just dont know what type of things to bring with me fishing. Please help!

I have a rod and reel, waders and boots, but what do I need as far as hooks, leaders, etc...I have been fishing with other people that have everything, but let's say I want to go by myself - what do I need to make sure I have? Thanks in advance!

I am debating whether to use my light action 5'6 storm fishing reel/rod. Or my R2F Southbend fishing combo which is medium action 6'6. Both have 5.2:1 reels.
