I live in Northwest Pennsylvania, and i'm moving to texas in august (which is awesome cuz it's miserable here, not pennsylvania in general, just the town i'm in) and i would like to catch a steelhead before i move. I fished today for several hours with small worms and spawn sacs, and caught nothing. Several people who were fishing in the area were having the same problems so they probably weren't there today. I would like to know the best time, and bait, and rigs to catch these because the only steelhead in Texas (if any) are stocked, and it's just not the same. Good news is that i caught my first fish of the season yesterday, it was a 7 inch rainbow trout. Very tiny, but as the first of the season it was pretty cool.
i also read that steelhead like in line spinners, much like trout do, when should i use these? Thanks guys.
oh, and I'm fishing the tributaries of Lake Erie if that helps.
When is the soonest time I can start salmon fishing near Manitowoc Wisconson?
I mean as far as what time of the year do they start to come up the river and streams from lake michigan. ( I live right by the Manitowoc and Branch river.) So I would stick to the inland streams and was wondering what time of year they start comeing up to spawn.
when is the best time to trout fish mornings or evenings
or when the tide is rising or falling
