I want to do some Salmon fishing in British Columbia after June. Where should I go, and do I need permits.?

I live in Southern California and I want to get away for the summer and do some Salmon fishing, but also be close to some city type stuff, any suggestions as to what cities are best, and what type of permits I need? Thanks.

    Hey,

Thats funny. I live in British Columbia and I just got back from Southern California on a bass fishing trip.

As far as fishing for salmon, you can’t beat the west coast of Vancouver Island. Boats routinely catch 15-30 salmon a day out there, and you can also catch huge halibut up to 150 pounds. I recommend getting a charter out of Tofino or Uclulet.

The Queen Charlotte Islands are also a salmon fishing paradise, and a little more remote than Vancouver Island. Use google to find a fishing lodge, there are plenty of them up there.

Most charter companies can get a licence for you, or you can buy your own saltwater non-residence licence at any tackle shop, walmart, or canadian tire.

Good luck! June through August are the best months for sure.
