Please explain trout fishing in a lake?

Soon I'm moving to a lake where there are brown trout and rainbow trout and I'd love to learn how to catch these fish. I don't even know anything about fishing so I either need a website link, or someone to explain step by step, including what equipment I need.
Start simple with a proven technique. Mornings and evenings, trouts come to the surface to eat insects. Get a simple rod and reel, a beginner’s kit will do. Stuff a worm on a hook, fix a float one to two feet higher on the line and throw it as far as you can from shore (30-50 feet). When the float dips, swing the rod slightly and quickly upwards to hook the fish.
It is true though that this technique will work fine in particular spots and fail in other spots. You have to try different spots until you find a good one.
Dangle food on a hook and when the fish bites you yank the hook to set in the fishes mouth. Then you reel it in.

Trout are among the most fun fish to catch, and are also mighty tasty!
Just buy yourself an inexpensive small rod, some spinners or flies, and a bucket to sit on…

Cheap light-action spincasting rod and reel, and fill it with quality 8 lb. test.
Some plastic, or weighted floats (AKA bobbers.)
Small non-removable split-shot sinkers, to hold the float up.
Size 4 baitholder hooks.
2 dozen of nightcrawlers, or a can of corn.
That’s all you need. When you find the art of fishing with bait, try lures.
Just get a couple lures to try out, don’t buy the store.
Get a kastmaster spoon, rooster tail, and a tiny rat-l-trap.
